Math to Art: an Indefinite Ratio
Abstract: As a double major in math and art, I have always been fascinated by the visual representation of mathematical expressions. For this project, I have created a series of paintings that were based on continuous functions. The paintings give a very different perspective of these functions than one would find in a textbook; I think of them as an exploration in the beauty of mathematics. As I worked on this project, I tried to decide what portion of it was "math" and how much of it was "art," but that is a tricky question whose answer will probably vary from one viewer to another.
